SCUBA DIVING GEAR > RESCUE DIVER > PADI RESCUE DIVER
This Course is designed to train divers and potential diving leaders in the knowledge and skills to aid in prevention of, and effectively deal with, in-water problems and diving accidents. This includes assists, tows, full rescues and exits from both shore and boat. The Course objective is to involve students in all aspects of proven rescue techniques, their causes and prevention of diving accidents, management, sound in-water skills, EAR and CPR review. PRE-REQUISITES: Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent and be at least 15 years old (hold a current diving medical within last 12 months). You must have also completed a sanctioned course in CPR training within the last 2 years. If not, a PADI Emergency First Response Course can be offered in conjunction with the Rescue Diver Course, teaching students effective first aid, CPR and EAR training. COURSE OUTLINE: There are 5 academic sessions and 12 open water exercises to complete, which would usually equate to two consecutive weekends. COURSE FEE: Our Rescue Diver programme requires an investment of $385 per person and the Emergency First Response Course is $195 per person. A $100 deposit will secure your place in the Course, with the balance due on the first weekend. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT FOR THE COURSE: Complete open water diving equipment including, Wetsuit, Gloves, Knife, BCD, Regulator System with Octopus, Gauges, Compass, Depth Gauge, Timing Device, Mask, Fins and Snorkel. INCLUDED IN THE COURSE: Certification Costs, Air Fills (in Adelaide), Instructor Fees, PADI Rescue Diver Manual and Accident Workslate, Wall Certificate, Personal ID Card, & Pool Hire. Classroom Topics Covered Are: a) Self Rescue and Diver Stress b) Diving First Aid c) Emergency Management d) Equipment Considerations e) Review of Main Topics and Exam Practical Topics Covered Are: a) Tired and Panicked Diver Assists b) Surface Rescues c) Underwater Rescues and Assists d) Emergency Management/Transport/Assistance e) Lost Diver Scenarios and Search Pattern Reviews f) Approx. 3 Dives Note: The equipment is NOT supplied as part of the course. It is suggested that you purchase your own equipment at this level of training. Equipment can be hired from DS. at a cost of $70 for the entire course.
